Layer2 Star Project Linea Mainnet Guide
Linea has officially launched its mainnet, marking a new phase in the project’s development. As a star project in the Layer2 space, what outstanding advantages does Linea have? This article comprehensively explores key information about Linea’s project positioning, operation mechanism, and ecosystem layout.
I. Project Introduction
Linea, formerly known as ConsenSys zkEVM, is a Layer2 network for the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) using zero-knowledge technology. It boasts several advantages, including extremely low gas fees, comprehensive support for existing Ethereum wallets and infrastructure, high security (with over 500,000 verification nodes), and a leading position in zk-proofs.
ConsenSys zkEVM launched its testnet in December last year and achieved 1.5 million transactions within the first few weeks after three months of operation. On March 28, 2023, the ConsenSys zkEVM testnet officially launched as Linea. Developers can continue to use familiar tools like MetaMask, Truffle, and Infura to deploy and manage applications without changing code or rewriting smart contracts. Linea allows builders to create scalable DApps or migrate existing ones without code changes.
MetaMask, the popular wallet from the same parent company as Linea, ConsenSys, adds to Linea’s strong competitive position in the Ethereum Layer2 space, harnessing network effects.
The Linea mainnet’s ecosystem is rich, covering various dimensions, including cross-chain bridges, NFTs, wallets, DeFi, social, and more. Achieving complete ecosystem interoperability is not an easy task. Our goal is to complete interactions with the lowest cost and maximum efficiency to access as many airdrop opportunities as possible.
II. Mainnet Launch
In July 2023, Linea’s mainnet was officially launched, marking the project’s transition from the testing phase to commercial operation. The mainnet’s launch solidified Linea as a highly regarded choice in the Ethereum Layer2 solutions. The mainnet’s deployment also fueled the robust development of Linea’s ecosystem. On Linea, projects from various domains such as DeFi, NFTs, cross-chain, and more were launched, providing users with diverse application scenarios and opportunities. These initiatives further solidified Linea’s position in the Ethereum Layer2 ecosystem.
III. Ecosystem Layout
The Linea ecosystem comprises several key components:
- Cross-Rollup Bridges: Owlto, Symbiosis, and others support asset cross-rollup transfers.
- NFT Platforms: Zonic, Omnisea, and others for NFT creation and trading.
- DeFi Applications: LineaBank, Velocore, and various other projects in the DeFi space.
- Wallets: Fluvi, MetaMask, and other wallets integrated with Linea.
- Social Applications: IDriss, Atticc, supporting account tipping and NFT trading.
- Domain Services: Linea Name Service, and more.
IV. User Interactions
After the mainnet launch, users can interact with Linea in the following ways:
- Transfer assets into Linea using the mainnet cross-chain bridge: https://bridge.linea.build/
After connecting your wallet, enter the amount you want to cross-chain and confirm it in your wallet to complete the fund transfer.
Use Owlto for cross-Rollup transfers.
Owlto currently supports networks such as Ethereum, zkSync, Arbitrum, Arbitrum Nova, Optimism, Polygon zkEVM, BNB Chain, opBNB, Zora, Base, and will support Starknet, ZetaChain, Immutable X, and more in the future. With the fastest cross-chain speed, taking only 20 seconds, and the lowest fees, using Owlto for cross-chain needs is highly recommended.
Owlto also has a unique referral mechanism that allows you to earn some ETH rewards by inviting friends, and points are likely to be a standard for future airdrops.
Create and purchase NFTs on NFT platforms.
Visit the NFT trading platform: https://zonic.app, connect your wallet, and click Launch.
Complete the signing and authorization process in your wallet, then click Create to create your NFT.
Choose the NFT name, select the Linea network, and click CREATE.
Follow the requirements for adding NFT materials and click Launch.
Engage in asset management, trading, lending, and more on DeFi platforms.
- Interact with Leetswap Click to access the official website and check and confirm the agreement: https://linea.leetswap.finance/#/swap
- Swap $ETH for $LEET, then proceed to pool and stake.
Interact with Horizondex
Click to access the official website, then click on Swap and add the liquidity pool: https://app.horizondex.io/swap
Stake and mine on LineaBank
Click to visit the official website: https://lineabank.finance/bank
Click ‘Stake’ to deposit ETH first, then borrow $LAB, and proceed with the staking process.
Apart from the mentioned projects, the Linea ecosystem includes many more: https://linea.build/apps
NFT
- NFTs 2 Me: A free multi-chain platform where users can create, deploy, and manage their NFT collections and communities.
- Omnisea: A full-chain NFT Launchpad based on LayerZero and Axelar Network.
Wallets
- Fluvi Wallet: This wallet supports Google account login and 2FA authentication. While ensuring security, it lowers the barrier of entry for non-crypto users. In Linea’s testnet activities, the Linea project team has specifically arranged tasks for installing Fluvi Wallet and provides gas fee discounts, highlighting its favorability among Linea project stakeholders.
DeFi
- FWDX: FWDEX is a decentralized P2P swap platform that offers fixed quotes and zero slippage swaps, with profits shared by users and token holders. Kuma Protocol: A DeFi protocol issuing interest-bearing tokens supported by traditional fixed income products.
- Mendi Finance: A decentralized, non-custodial P2P lending protocol on Linea, providing higher liquidity to the Linea network, or potentially becoming the primary lending platform on the future Linea mainnet.
- Velocore Dex: A DEX based on the Velodrome code, also a DEX with a higher TVL on zkSync Era.
- WOOFi: Launched by WOO Network, WOOFi uses a new on-chain market-making algorithm called sPMM, which better simulates the price, spread, and depth of centralized trading platforms.
- zkUSD: Combining collateralized stablecoins with zkSNARKs technology, the next-generation DeFi platform focuses on privacy, stability, and cross-chain interoperability in transactions.
- EchoDEX: The first DEX on the Linea network, known for its low-cost transactions and liquidity aggregation features, with a simple interface and high security.
Social
- IDriss: A Web3 social application plugin that allows users to conduct transfer transactions on Twitter with others who have installed the same plugin. After sending a transaction request, users need to confirm the transfer on their plugin wallet, such as MetaMask.
- Atticc: A Web3 social platform similar to Lenster, offering standard social features along with capabilities for tipping, NFT minting, and NFT trading.
- Linea Name Service: A third-party domain name project within the Linea ecosystem, already live on the Linea mainnet.
V. Future Outlook
As a leading Layer2 project, Linea has a solid foundation in both technology and commercialization. With the operation of the mainnet, its ecosystem will continue to expand, and the user base will grow steadily.
As Ethereum evolves into a multi-layered architecture, Linea has the opportunity to become a high-speed channel connecting the Ethereum base chain and application chains, securing its position in the scaling solution landscape.”
